Program
- Day 1
Upon arrival at Frankfurt International Airport, we collect our rental vehicle and begin the journey towards Schmallenberg, located in the Sauerland region, home to some of Germany’s most renowned mine diving sites.
After checking into the hotel, there will be time to organize and prepare diving equipment, ensuring everything is ready for the days ahead. The evening is reserved for a relaxed dinner and team briefing, followed by a good night’s rest in preparation for the first dive at the Felicitas mine the following day.
- Day 2
After breakfast, we prepare and load our dive equipment before heading to the Felicitas mine. Along the way, we can pick up snacks or prepare a packed lunch for the day. This marks the first dive of the expedition, an introduction to German mine diving, allowing you to become familiar with the environment, conditions and procedures.
After the dive, we return to the hotel where there is time to rinse and dry equipment, relax, explore the town of Schmallenberg and enjoy dinner together as a group.
- Day 3
We return to Felicitas for a longer, more in-depth dive. With increased familiarity of the mine, this day allows for deeper exploration, improved team coordination and the opportunity to capture photos and videos, creating lasting memories of this unique environment.
- Day 4
Today we dive the renowned Nuttlar mine, one of the most famous and visually striking flooded mines in Germany. Known for its impressive structures and clear water, Nuttlar offers an exceptional technical diving experience and a different perspective compared to Felicitas.
- Day 5
Our final planned dive takes place in the Christine mine, a highly sought-after and more exclusive dive site. Access is strictly controlled and entry depends on prior approval and proper documentation. If all requirements are met, we will enjoy a rewarding and unique dive together.
In the unlikely event that access is not granted, we will adapt the plan and return to the group’s preferred dive site, ensuring another high-quality diving experience.
- Day 6
This is a well-deserved rest day, allowing time to dry and pack equipment while recovering from the previous days of diving. We will also take the opportunity to explore local points of interest in the Sauerland region and enjoy a relaxed meal together.
- Day 7
After breakfast, we begin the journey back to Frankfurt Airport, where we return the vehicle and prepare for departure. The expedition concludes with lasting memories of Germany’s unique mine diving environments and shared experiences with the team, concluding your expedition with the same level of care and professionalism that defines Axolot Diving Expeditions.
